Windsong Bulldogs came into existence in the early 1980's in much the same way as many other Bulldog Kennels. A Bulldog was brought into the house as a pet.
Soon we were strolling happily around the ring with our beautiful "showdog" on the end of a homemade show lead. Standing at the end of the line, it didn't take long to come to the realization that our "beauty" didn't look exactly the same as the other dogs. That's when the studying and hard work began.
With the help of many oldtime Bulldog breeders and exhibitors, we learned about the written standard, the many health problems of the breed, and the ins and outs of the show ring.
A couple of years later we acquired our first REAL showdog, Ch. Hopp's Big Time Jake, from Kathy Hoppstadter. Jake was a wonderful Bulldog and was the foundation for the Windsong line, which at that time was known as Jays Bulldogs. He produced sound, healthy puppies with nice conformation and excellent temperaments. Jake produced Ch. Windsong's Molle McButtercup who was bred back to her Grandfather, Ch. Fulton Cedar. She became our foundation bitch. Jake also produced our top winning bitch, Champion Windsong's Avis Tries Harder.
We are proud to be members in good standing of the Bulldog Club of America, Music City Bulldog Club, Pensacola Dog Fanciers Assoc. , Five Flags Dog Training Club. and Southeast Alabama Kennel Club.
We breed one or two litters per year and strive to produce animals that are not only beautiful, but also sound in mind and body. We truly believe that the most beautiful Bulldog in the world is not complete unless he has the wonderful easy-going temperament for which Bulldogs are famous.
